PRIVACY POLICY
Congress passed the Gramm-Leach-Bliley (GLB) Act in 1999. The GLB deals with the handling of personal financial information. Sprechman & Fisher, P.A. understands how important privacy is to you. This is why we strongly believe in protecting the confidentiality and security of information we obtain about you. MIRANDA REQUIREMENTS
The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) provides that a debt collector may not use any false, deceptive, or otherwise misleading representation or means in connection with the collection of debt. Section 807 of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act provides that “false, deceptive, or misleading representation” includes the failure to disclose in the initial oral or written communication with the consumer that “the debt collector is attempting to collect a debt and that any information obtained will be used for that purpose”, and the failure to disclose in subsequent communications that “the communication is from a debt collector”. Our internal policy requires that a collection representative must provide such a notification on each and every contact that is made. Collectors are trained to provide the warning once they have successfully identified that the person they are speaking with is the correct party and prior to discussing the debt or any demand for payment.
